Y 03|014 - HOUSE HA

Hansbeke,  2023 (BE)

Inspired by the vernacular sheds that punctuate the surrounding plots, this house reinterprets their forms in a contemporary architectural language. Lightly inclined roofs define its silhouette, creating a rhythm that responds to the landscape while giving each volume a distinct presence. The varying heights of the floors articulate a dynamic spatial sequence, guiding movement through a layered composition of interconnected volumes. At the core of the design is a careful choreography between interior and exterior. Spaces are organized to unfold gradually, with proportions, ceiling heights, and floor levels shaping moments of intimacy and openness. Natural light enters strategically, accentuating transitions and emphasizing the relationship between volumes. Every element—from the rooflines to the subtle shifts in floor levels—serves to orchestrate an experience of movement and discovery. The house becomes a sequence of spatial scenarios, where architecture frames views, interacts with the terrain, and encourages a dialogue between built form and its natural context. Here, the design is both deliberate and responsive, a modern interpretation of rural tradition that celebrates the poetry of form, light, and spatial layering.
